The reason why I am still going to buy a samsung galaxy tab 10.1

It was a little frustrated when I saw the official samsung tab 10.1 specification. Two important factors that intrigued me were 8.0mega rear camera and micro-sd expansion slot. However, on the official specification sheet, he camera is only 3.0mega and the sd card slot was annihilated.

This was quite a set back for me so I was changing my focus on two other tablets -- Motorola Xoom and Toshiba Thrive. These two pretty much have everything you want: sd card slots, hdmi, usb, mini usb, etc. What's more attractive is the price of Thrive, merely $429 for a 8gb version. If you want larger storage space. Simply go with a 32gb sd card which is only around $50. Sounds quite tempting.

After carefully evaluate my need and my purchasing ability. I will still stick with samsung tab 10.1. The key factor is that its light-weight, merely 1.25lbs. I had been suffered from my macbook which, plus the AC adapter is heavy as stone in my backpack. After experienced my friend's Xseries Lenovo, I decided light-weight should be a key standard of my future purchase.

Another setback is the storage space. The 16GB version tab 10.1 will only have around 13GB free left for users. Although samsung promised microsd extension through the dock, I doubt anyone would like the idea of carrying some strange extension all the time. However, as someone mentioned, cloud storage is so popular nowadays, and wifi hotspot is everywhere. Why bother carry a USB or minisd storage all the time? I can put important stuff on my device while keeping the rest on a cloud disk. When every I need something, I can find a popular wifi hotspot (say, Mcdonald's) or tether my 3G phone.

Besides, I am not planning to replace a music player with a tablet. I have several apple music players that should server better as music player. Also, nowadays, people use internet radio, say pandora for streaming music. People use hulu or netflix for streaming movies. Why bother getting a lot of storage space that you may never use.

Overall, I really feel 16GB is enough for me. And the light weight and better screen of the samsung tab 10.1 are more attractive.
